We recommend staying at the Aparthotel Nautilus Lanzarote, because we loved discovering this place.
Located in the seaside town of Puerto del Carmen, this establishment is just a few minutes’ walk from Playa de Matagorda and the Atlantic Ocean. We particularly liked the fact that each apartment was completely independent, giving us total freedom of action. What’s more, we were pleasantly surprised by the art gallery hidden inside.
In this article, we present the establishment and its services in detail, with plenty of photos to give you a precise idea of the place.
This opinion is completely independent, based on our experiences. We visited the region anonymously, making our own choices and paying our bills in full.
Why stay at Aparthotel Nautilus Lanzarote?
This establishment is an excellent option for groups. In fact, it features in our selection of the best hotels for families in Puerto del Carmen. It really stood out from the other residences on Lanzarote in our eyes. Here are its 3 main assets, in our opinion:
- the apartments: we liked the fact that they were fully equipped, with their own kitchen, living room, bedroom(s) and terrace. They offer extra privacy and freedom for holidaymakers. We recommend this establishment for groups!
- pools: we found them to be a good size. In the smallest pool, the water was shallow enough to allow children to swim safely. The adult pool was teardrop-shaped and very pleasant too.
- the art gallery: this is definitely the most surprising establishment we’ve discovered on Lanzarote. The lobby is filled with artwork, and the lower level is an art gallery where we enjoyed spending time. The apartments are also decorated with unique paintings. A feature that won us over!

In fact, we’ve written an article compiling the must-do activities in this city for the more curious. What’s more, you can stay in fully equipped apartments that guarantee total independence. The residence also houses an art gallery, with works by local and international artists. We admired modern and contemporary works, as well as paintings and sculptures. In our opinion, this exhibition space is the aparthotel’s greatest asset.
Decoration and atmosphere
We were charmed by the unique aesthetics of this residence. Its original concept set it apart from other establishments on the island of Lanzarote. Art, in various forms, was central to his decor. If you’re an art lover like us, you’ll love the works on display in the aparthotel’s lobby and gallery, and even in the apartments! This gave the place a touch of elegance and sophistication.
We really liked the originality of the establishment. It was both comfortable and atypical. The atmosphere was very cosy, especially around the pools. Apart from the many works of art that gave color and life to the rooms, the furniture was rather sober and cocooning. We felt relaxed and at ease!
The aparthotel also boasts the Telluric Suite, designed by Spanish architect Jesus Castillo Oli, and the Oceanic Suite, decorated by Barcelona artist Pepa Poch. These apartments are truly unique, and very different from one another. They are particularly suited to decoration and design enthusiasts.

The apartment
In the apartment, the bedroom was decorated in a modern, classic style. Beige and white hues created a cocooning ambience. We were struck by the texture of the headboard and tiles. The 2 seemed to have an aged effect. It gave the room a sense of relief. We also appreciated the photographs hanging above the bed, a reminder of the central place of art in the decor of this establishment.
Next, we discovered a fully equipped kitchen with oven, microwave, fridge, hob, kettle, coffee maker, toaster and crockery. The mix of different floor and wall tiles, and the granite-effect countertop, made a lasting impression on us. We hadn’t seen kitchens with so many different materials before. This space was spacious, we definitely recommend this accommodation for a group stay!
Even before entering the apartment, we were intrigued by the name given to the accommodation. On a panel by the bay window, we discovered contemporary artist Nori Ushijima. He is a Japanese painter born in 1956. We deduced that his works were on display in the apartment. Rather interesting, isn’t it?
In the living room, we particularly liked the abstract paintings on the walls, the aged-effect tiles on the floor, and the rough-hewn wooden furniture. The bay window opening directly onto the pool terrace won us over! We were only a few steps away from the bathing area, ideal for a relaxing stay.
