A superb hotel with elegant decor and several beaches right on its doorstep. We enjoyed the sea and palm tree views and the infinity pool.

A hotel on a human scale, quiet but 10 minutes from the beaches. We liked the spacious room, the modern decor and the friendly staff.

Best hotel for families: Aequora Suites
If your young children love water, there’s no question. Your best option is the Hotel Aequora, which organizes everything for families. Your children should love the pool with its giant fish and small slides.

Best Aparthotel: Aparmentos Playamar
If you prefer a little more freedom for your meals, and don’t want to eat out every day, an aparthotel is the right option. We really liked the Playamar apartments with their beautiful pools surrounded by palm trees.

It’s also a 5-star hotel, but we found it excellent value for money. The hotel is elegant and bright, with lovely gardens and pools. We made the most of our 180° sea view.

Why choose Puerto del Carmen to stay in Lanzarote?
Puerto del Carmen is Lanzarote’s main seaside resort, with a wide choice of accommodation and beaches, and plenty of activities and restaurants. It’s fairly central on the east coast, making it easy to explore the island. This is one of the best places to stay in Lanzarote!

Sleep in the center, around Playa Grande
Benefits:
- Close to Playa Grande and other beaches
- Many restaurants and stores
- Not too steep, easy access to the beach
Disadvantages:
- lots of people
- parking problems
Sleeping in Playa de los Pocillos (east)
Benefits:
- The great beach of los Pocillos / Matagorda
- Larger spaces
- Fairly flat, easy access to the beach
Disadvantages:
- Fewer restaurant choices
- Months of activity in this range
Sleeping on the port side (west)
Benefits:
- Access to nautical activities
- Good choice of restaurants
Disadvantages:
- Very steep slope to reach waterfront / hotel
Other tips to keep in mind
Puerto del Carmen is a popular tourist destination. We therefore advise you to book as early as possible to have a choice of hotels and better prices.
The closer you are to the beach, the more difficult it can be to park. If you’re renting a car (which we strongly recommend), take a look at the parking conditions.
OUR ADVICE FOR RENTING A CAR IN Lanzarote

- A small car is all you need.
- But you can also choose a larger one if you wish, as the parking spaces are rather large.
- Demand is high, so book early.
1. Los Fariones Hotel (5 stars)
Why stay there?
Absolutely magnificent. We loved our stay: the infinity pool, the tropical gardens, the warm, elegant decor, the sea view, the beachfront location (and right next to Playa del Carmen’s main beach), the ever-helpful staff…
This hotel lives up to its reputation. We immediately felt at ease, surrounded by palm trees.
We particularly appreciated the infinity pool to relax in after exploring the island, and the buffets to replenish our strength.

2. Aqua Suites Hotel
Why stay there?
In a rather different, very modern style, if you’re looking for a place to relax and unwind, we recommend the Aqua Suites hotel. It’s on a human scale, which makes for a much more relaxing experience.
We loved the welcome we received at this hotel, the whole team was smiling. As soon as we entered, we noticed the modern decor and the reasonable noise level.
Once again, we liked the design of the room, but above all the space, and also the terrace for relaxing at the end of the day.

3. Hotel Aparmentos Playamar
Why stay there?
Puerto del Carmen is rich in aparthotel facilities. One of our favorites is Playamar, with its exceptional location right in the heart of town and just 2 minutes from the main beach.
The apartment has a modern decor and a small, fairly well-equipped kitchen, so you don’t have to eat out at every meal.
We loved the inner courtyard with its pools, palm trees and succulent plants.
We found the apartment’s minimalist style and terrace space very pleasant.

4. Hotel Aequora Suites (family)
Why stay there?
If you come to Puerto del Carmen with children, we highly recommend this hotel. The water sports areas are just perfect, with pools for all ages. We particularly liked the ones with the giant fish and turtle.
Rooms are spacious and modern, with terraces of varying sizes.
We liked the brightness and good atmosphere of the hotel, with plenty of space for everyone.

5. Lava Beach Hotel
Why stay there?
Calm, comfort and elegance… that’s what best describes this hotel. The establishment is very beautiful, with modern decorations and a lovely area of succulents.
Seats and loungers are well spaced out, so that everyone can enjoy their own little corner of calm.
We chose to pay extra for a top-level room with an unobstructed sea view. It was lovely to sit back on the comfortable armchairs on our terrace and watch the daylight slowly fade.
This hotel emphasizes its relaxing side, and we agree!

6. Lani’s Suites Hotel (5 stars, adults-only)
Why stay there?
Luxury to the max. As a small boutique hotel, the team can really offer personalized service to all guests.
The rooms are magnificent, modern and bright. Lots of white!
We also really appreciated the view from the restaurant to the small beach just below the hotel.
This small, charming hotel is right in the heart of the city – you couldn’t be more central!

7. Las Costas Hotel
Why stay there?
A beautiful U-shaped hotel where everyone can enjoy the view of the beach and the sea.
We really liked the ambience of this hotel, with touches of color to liven up the white and a very pleasant pool overlooking the sea.
On the second floor, the terrace offers views of the beach, the sea and the volcanoes in the background: the picture postcard of Lanzarote.
The hotel isn’t too big, so it’s still pretty quiet, which we appreciate!

8. Hotel CIH apartments
Why stay there?
Small establishment between aparthotel and apartment rental.
We fell in love with the elegant location and its apartments. The decor is superb and warm, and everything is well equipped.
The location is quiet but close to the beach. For the moment, there’s no construction next door, and the view of the volcanoes was also very appealing.

Why stay there?
This aparthotel offers excellent value at the 3-star level, especially if you like the color green!
Well located near the Playa de los Pocillos, the apartments are very well equipped, with a large refrigerator and even a freezer. Among aparthotels, this is one of those with the most fully-equipped kitchens.

Another good option if you’re traveling with young children. The apartments are clean, functional and well-equipped.
This is a resort with activities for everyone, but with apartments instead of rooms, so you choose how you want to eat.
Children will love the swimming pool, wet play area and miniclub!
We also really appreciated the landscaping, with lots of palm trees and succulents.

11. Nautilus Lanzarote Hotel
Why stay there?
This is definitely the most surprising hotel we’ve discovered in Lanzarote. The pools and rooms/apartments are quite classic and rather pleasant. The complex is not too big and the atmosphere is relaxed.
But the lobby is filled with works of art and the lower level is an art gallery where we enjoyed spending time. We really liked the combination!
And we also liked the library section, where we could find books in several languages.

Why stay there?
Another luxury boutique hotel in Puerto del Carmen, this time on the port side.
Once again, the service and design are exceptional.
It’s an elegant oasis with magnificent sea views. And it’s also known for its Biosphere Responsible Tourism label.
There’s no traditional white here, but lots of metallic surfaces that mirror and reflect the beauty of the island of Lanzarote.

Why stay there?
If you like a nautical theme, you’ll love the R2 Bahia. The modern decor is inspired by the foam of the waves, with bright colors and images of underwater landscapes. Kids love it! See the turtle in the photo above.
We like the spaciousness of the rooms and the few elements of the kitchen if you don’t want to eat out.
We really liked the lounger area facing the sea, but it’s not ideal for those who want to stay poolside as space is limited.
