Where to stay in Fuerteventura without a car
In the 2 main tourist towns where you’ll find beaches, activities, plenty of restaurants and excursions.
We prefer the Morro Jable beaches, but Corralejo is easier to explore because it’s not so long.

Where to stay in Fuerteventura to explore the whole island
The island is quite long. From Corralejo to Morro Jable, take the fast road for 1h30.
To balance your travel times, choosing a central location makes more sense.
The town of Caleta de Fuste.
But it’s a purely tourist town. If you really want to immerse yourself in the island, we recommend spending half your stay in Morro Jable and the other half in Corralejo.
Where to stay in Fuerteventura with young children
With young children, you’re probably looking for a lagoon-like beach with a gentle slope and lots of sand.
In this case, we recommend:
Caleta de Fuste for large resorts with activities.
El Cotillo, for a quieter, more authentic village.

Where to stay in Fuerteventura for the best beaches
This is a much debated question, as tastes on the beach vary greatly.
If you like easy access to a very long beach where you can walk with your feet in the water and sand, we recommend Morro Jable.
Where to stay in Fuerteventura for couples (romantic)
Again, it depends on what you like. Some couples prefer to bask in the sun, while others prefer adventure. It also depends on the hotel…
Other frequently asked questions

Mostly Corralejo, but it all depends on your level.
Where to stay in Fuerteventura for nightlife

City 2 – Morro Jable

Why stay in Morro Jable
Morro Jable is the ideal place for those looking for a very long sandy beach, but with an interesting gastronomic and nightlife scene. It’s an ideal place to explore the south of Fuerteventura.
We really liked its atmosphere.
But beware, the city is very long and some hotels are not close to the old center.
Beach types
In the town of Morro Jable you have the very long Playa del Matorral. It has 3 sections: near the old town where it is narrower with a large dune, around the lighthouse where it is very wide with sand as far as the eye can see, and to the north, where it is next to Ibersotar hotels.

Caleta has two main advantages:
- It’s quite centrally located, which means you can drive less on average if you want to explore the whole island.
- The beach is quite calm and gently sloping. It’s ideal for families with young children.
On the other hand, it’s close to the airport (so you can often hear planes going by) and we find it less charming than Corralejo or Morro Jable.
Beach types
Caleta de Fuste has two beaches:
- Playa del Castillo, wide and gently sloping
- Playa de la Guirra, in front of the Sheraton and Elba hotels, narrower but also with a gentle slope.

Frequently asked questions
Best destinations in Fuerteventura
In our opinion, the best destinations in Fuerteventura are Corralejo to the north and Morro Jable to the south. Both towns have the charm of an old center, beautiful beaches and plenty of activities and restaurants.
Fuerteventura: North or South?
We have a slight preference for the south, but both parts of the island are magnificent. In the south, we love beaches, cliffs and dolphin watching. To the north, we love the sand dunes, the more traditional villages and access to the magnificent island of Lobos.
See our article comparing north and south.
Corralejo or Caleta de Fuste?
For us, it’s Corralejo. The town has more charm, more beach choices and more activities.
On the other hand, if you have young children and just want to stay in your hotel and go to the beach, Caleta de Fuste may be more suitable.
See our article comparing the 4 seaside resorts.
