Is a stop at the Mirador de Guise y Ayose worth it?
The Mirador de Guise y Ayose is an emblematic viewpoint that absolutely deserves a visit on a road trip to Fuerteventura. We really liked this place, which offers spectacular views over the Betancuria Rural Park. This unique belvedere combines cultural heritage, with its monumental statues, and exceptional panoramic views.
This is one of Fuerteventura’s most beautiful landscapes.

Parking and access
The viewpoint is easily accessible from the FV-30 main road. It’s a mountain road, but it’s easy, in good condition, with one lane in each direction and a safety barrier all the way.
There’s a parking area where you can stop in complete safety to admire the panorama.
It’s quite large and people don’t stay long, but in the middle of the day in summer, it can be difficult to park.

OUR TIPS FOR RENTING A CAR IN Fuerteventura
- Compare prices on our preferred platform: DiscoverCars – one of the best rated sites.
- A small car is all you need.
- But you can also choose a larger one if you wish, as the parking spaces are rather large.
- Demand is high, so book early.

Best moment
We advise you to visit the viewpoint at the beginning or end of the day to take advantage of the best light conditions. The view stretches from north to south, offering different perspectives depending on the time of day.

View description
Orientation table
An orientation table is set up at the edge of the viewpoint. We particularly like this layout, which helps you identify the different elements of the landscape in front of you. It shows the main points of interest visible from the viewpoint, including the town of Betancuria and the various peaks.

Monumental statues
The most striking features of the watchtower are the two impressive 4-metre-high bronze statues. These sculptures represent the last aboriginal kings of Fuerteventura: Guise and Ayose (before the island was conquered by Europeans in 1402). These statues, created by artist Emiliano Hernández, symbolize the island’s two ancient kingdoms: Maxorata to the north, ruled by Guise, and Jandía to the south, ruled by Ayose.

View of the Betancuria ravine
Towards the south, the panorama opens out onto the impressive ravine that descends to the historic town of Betancuria (white houses in the background of the photo). We particularly appreciate this view, which helps us understand the region’s unique topography and its importance in the island’s history.

Panorama to the north
Looking north, you’ll discover a rugged landscape characteristic of this region of Fuerteventura. The steep hills stretch as far as the eye can see, offering a striking natural spectacle that testifies to the island’s rugged beauty. The lack of water is clearly visible here. Fuerteventura’s peaks aren’t high enough to stop the clouds!

Do not feed animals
Animals are often cute, but don’t feed them everywhere on Fuerteventura!
