Erosion work
The Antigua Rofera de Teseguite is a fascinating geological site. It shows the power of natural erosion on volcanic rock.
The stratified city is a series of volcanic rock formations that have been shaped over thousands of years by wind, sun and rain.
This process of natural erosion has created an otherworldly landscape, with strange holes, tunnels and caves in the rock mass.
And the work of erosion isn’t over yet – the site is constantly changing its appearance, as the rocks continue to degrade over time.
Another fascinating place to see, made by erosion, is Las Grietas.
Volcanoes in the background
The volcanoes in the background are an added bonus.
At certain times of the day they appear more or less orange, which makes the photos even more fascinating.
:
- Montaña de Guenia, 384 m above sea level
- Montaña Tinamala
Arches, columns, caves…
Take the time to explore, and you’ll see different shapes created by erosion:
- columns
- arch
- caves
