The most beautiful beaches in and around Corralejo – map
In and around Corralejo you’ll find beautiful beaches with white sand and coral popcorn.
These are, of course, its key assets. But there’s much more to do in the city: see our guide.
Map
Here’s a map of the beaches listed in this article, to help you find your way around:
Our favorites
We love Corralejo’s beaches. You really can find a wide range of styles. Our favorite beaches in the area are:
- Playa de Corralejo Viejo (in the center) #2
- Playa del Pozo for its wilderness and view of Lobos Island #5
- Beaches with popcorn corals, because they’re great fun.
Beach names and boundaries are complicated, so we’ve tried to stay as close as possible to what we saw on site, and we’ll mention Google Maps info where relevant.
1. Playa de los Verilitos (the most popular in town)
Why do we love it?
Playa de los Verilitos is the most popular beach in downtown Corralejo.
It’s the longest and the one with the largest area of sand.
It forms a pretty cove with access to the water in the sand between the rocky areas.
The water is crystal-clear and the sloping beach gives everyone a great view of the sea!
The northern part, where there are the most rocks, is the starting point for windsurfers.
Access from Corralejo
- In the heart of the city of Corralejo
- At Calle Lared
- Some call it Playa del Medio. But Playa del Medio is, in our opinion, the next bay down, with mostly rocks and no easy access to the water.
The northern part of this beach is also known as Playa de la Goleta. - A few parking spaces in the surrounding streets, but difficult to park nearby
Practical information
- Golden white sand
- Supervised beach in season
- Toilet and shower at the end of Calle La Red
- Restaurants and bars with their feet in the sand all around
- The beach faces north-east
- Rather long beach
- No grey areas
WHERE TO STAY IN Corralejo
Our favorites: neighborhoods and hotels
In the old town, with small beaches and restaurants.
Hotel La Marquesina, small hotel above the beach – see prices, photos and availability
Around the central beaches, the big resorts.
Secrets Bahia 5-star luxury hotel – See prices, photos and availability
Further from the center, towards the dunes.
Hotel Tao Caleta Mar if you prefer direct access to the very long beaches – see prices, photos and availability
2. Playa Viejo Corralejo (in town)
Why do we love it?
The town of Corralejo has several beaches right in the center of town, which is very pleasant.
The most popular is Playa de los Verilitos, but we’ve fallen in love with Playa de Corralejo Viejo.
We love the long, shallow lagoon that forms between the rocks.
Ideal for simply walking in the water and cooling off.
What’s more, the beach faces the island of Lobos and its volcano.
But we recommend enjoying it at high tide!
Access from Corralejo
- In the town of Corralejo
- In the heart of the city, at the end of the paved seafront promenade

3. Playa Corralejo (in town)
Why do we love it?
It really is a city beach. This small strip of sand nestles on the edge of the seafront promenade, surrounded by several buildings, bars and restaurants.
We love its relaxed atmosphere, with life all around, young locals having fun, tourists admiring the view and people lounging on the terraces.
What’s more, its crystal-clear waters make you want to go for a refreshing swim.
We also enjoyed the view of the marina and port, with the island of Lobos in the background.
Access from Corralejo
- In the heart of Corralejo
- The old town to the north

OUR TIPS FOR RENTING A CAR IN Fuerteventura
- Compare prices on our preferred platform: DiscoverCars – one of the best rated sites.
- A small car is all you need.
- But you can also choose a larger one if you wish, as the parking spaces are rather large.
- Demand is high, so book early.
4. Playas Grandes (dunes)
Why do we love it?
If you’re looking for even bigger sandy beaches, and the waves are fun, take your car or rent a bike and head down to Corralejo Dunes Park.
Around the Riu Palace Tres Islas hotel, you’ll find very long sandy beaches, which are also wide: the Playas Grandes. Sections near hotels are supervised. But if you want a little more peace and quiet, it’s possible to move away.
The most popular is south of the Riu palace.
Access from Corralejo
- Southeast of Corralejo
- 10 min drive from Centre
- Few parking spaces for visitors around hotels (or parking in sand)
- Alternatively, you can park further along the road through the dunes, but then you have to walk a little to reach the beach.

5. Playa del Pozo (dunes)
Why do we love it?
Another stretch of seafront in the Corralejo Dunes Natural Park.
We love this section because it’s so much wilder.
The adventure begins with a walk through small dunes to reach the sea.
And once you’re at the water’s edge, you won’t be disturbed by the crowds and will enjoy superb views across the buildings to the island of Lobos.
It’s an ideal beach for a long walk along the water’s edge, with your feet in the sand, especially at sunrise!
Beware, the waves are high and the beach is unsupervised.
Access from Corralejo
- Southeast of Corralejo
- At the start of the Corralejo Dunes Natural Park
- 5 to 7 min drive from downtown
- Easy parking along the road
- Then it’s a 5-minute walk across the flat pool and through the mini-sand dunes to reach the water’s edge.
Practical information
- Golden white sand
- Unsupervised beach
- No toilets or showers
- No installation
- The beach faces northeast, ideal for sunrises
- Long but wide beach
- No grey areas
6. Playa Alzada
Why do we love it?
Among the beaches surrounded by the dunes of Corralejo, many choose the large beaches close to the town.
We prefer PLaya Alzada, a little further south in the natural park.
This is a wilder beach, where the contrast between golden-white sand, black lava rocks and turquoise water is clearly visible.
This is one of our favorite beaches in Fuerteventura.
Access from Corralejo
- In the natural park south of Corralejo
- South-east of the center of Corralejo
- Driving time from Corralejo = 10min
- Easy road in the middle of the dunes (but beware of sand on the road, slow down)
- Easy access from the parking lot
Practical information
- Golden white sand
- Beach sometimes supervised in season
- No other installations
- Sun loungers for hire
- No grey areas
7. Playa del Moro / Dormidero / Rosadero (dunes)
Why do we love it?
Another beach in the heart of the Corralejo dunes. This beach is quite large: long and wide with very pleasant sand.
We loved the view with Montana Roja volcano in the background.
No buildings here, just sand, sea and dunes.
Also known as Glass Beach on Google Maps.
But beware, the photos associated with the various names on Google Maps are often photos of Playa Alzada, which we listed earlier.
Access from Corralejo
- In the natural park south of Corralejo
- South-east of the center of Corralejo
- Driving time from Corralejo = 10min
- Easy road in the middle of the dunes (but beware of sand on the road, slow down)
- Easy access from roadside parking areas
Practical information
- Golden white sand
- Beach sometimes supervised in season
- No other installations
- Sun loungers for hire
- No grey areas
8. Popcorn beaches
Corralejo also has several popcorn beaches. It’s a fascinating phenomenon that we recommend you see, even if it’s not a beach to lie on, as it’s not very comfortable.
Near Corralejo are several beaches with what looks like popcorn on the sand. They’re actually corals. The smaller ones look like popcorn and the larger ones like cauliflower heads. But it’s the popcorn that’s chosen, surely because it’s more inspiring…
The best-known, Playa del Bajo de la Burra, is the so-called “popcorn beach” just outside town (15min unpaved road).
But if you wander south of Corralejo’s main beaches, you can also find them. Like in front of the Secrets Bahia hotel.
We found popcorn on Playa de la Barreta and Playa del Medio.
Playa Puerto Calero
There’s also a small, discreet beach where you’ll find almost exclusively locals. It’s a small strip of sand between Playa Corralejo and the port.
The beach almost disappears at high tide.
And the beaches of Lobos Island
You can also choose to take the ferry to the beautiful island of Lobos. You’ll also find a beautiful beach and natural pools/lagoons.
Playa de la Concha
The first stop, just 10 minutes from the dock on the left, is the beach known as Playa de la Caldera.
This is a beautiful rounded sandy area with Montana La Caldera in the background.
Playa de la Calera is the official name of the island, but many sites (including Google maps) refer to La Concha Beach. As we understand it, this is because there are rocks in the middle of the sand, so the first half is Calera and the rest is La Concha beach.
Because of its shape, the water is calm and beautiful.
A very pleasant place for those looking to spend the day at the beach.
Las Lagunitas
The “Las Lagunitas” natural pools are less than a 30-minute walk from the landing stage. But we’d advise you to tour the island first and finish by taking a dip in the lagoon, to cool off before setting off again.
Here, coves are protected by numerous volcanic rocks, creating large natural pools with calm waters.
