Why visit Fuerteventura’s Playa Corralejo (in town)?
Is Playa Corralejo (Clavellina) worth it?
Yes, it really is a city beach. This small strip of sand nestles on the edge of the seafront promenade, surrounded by bars and restaurants. We loved its lively atmosphere, with life bubbling all around. Young locals sit out on the terraces, while tourists admire the view or sunbathe. What’s more, its crystal-clear waters make you want to go for a refreshing swim. We also enjoyed the view of the marina, with the island of Lobos in the background.
Why choose this beach?
We recommend this beach if you want to stay in the heart of the resort. Here are the 3 main reasons why we think you should consider visiting:
- its location: it’s ideal for spending a pleasant moment without being far from the city center.
- its panorama: it offers a breathtaking view of the port of Corralejo and the island of Lobos on the horizon. Get your camera ready!
- a dynamic mix of bars, restaurants and hotels along the seafront and in the alleyways leading to the beach. Enjoy the hustle and bustle of the city, while relaxing on the warm sand! The night-time atmosphere is also very friendly and convivial.

OUR TIPS FOR RENTING A CAR IN Fuerteventura

- A small car is all you need.
- But you can also choose a larger one if you wish, as the parking spaces are rather large.
- Demand is high, so book early.
How to get there – access road
Playa Corralejo is located right in the center of Corralejo. The town can be reached via the FV-1, a road that crosses the sand dunes of the Corralejo Natural Park and leads to the north of the island of Fuerteventura. If you’re already in town, you can walk directly to the beach from Calle Iglesia, Calle Hernán Cortés or Plaza Félix Estévez.
Playa Corralejo parking lot
The beach has no dedicated parking, as it’s located right in the center of town. However, there are parking spaces in the surrounding streets, but it can sometimes be difficult to find one available. A large free public parking lot is just a 5-minute walk from the Pabellón Municipal de Deportes José Perdomo Umpierrez.
Access to the beach from the parking lot
If you choose to park in the free parking lot, you’ll need to take Calle Iglesia to reach the beach in just a few minutes on foot. As a landmark, you’ll pass by the Hotel La Marquesina, which is right next to Playa Corralejo.

On the sand and in the water…practical advice
Best time to visit
The best time of year to go to Playa Corralejo depends on individual preferences. However, the peak tourist season on the Canary Islands is between December and April, as well as during the 2 summer months. As a result, the beach will be busier during these periods. If you prefer to avoid the crowds, we recommend visiting outside these months. To find out when to go to Fuerteventura, check out our dedicated article!
As for the best time of day, it’s best to visit the beach early in the morning or late in the afternoon, to avoid the heat peak and enjoy more peace and quiet. Located in the heart of the seaside resort, it attracts many tourists.
Beach type and size
The beach is mainly composed of fine white sand. There are areas of wet sand due to the movement of waves and tides. The strip of dry sand is quite narrow. Generally speaking, the beach is rather small in both length and width.
Conditions for swimming
The slope to enter the water is quite steep, so you won’t have your footing quickly enough and you’ll still be close to the edge. You’ll need to keep an eye on your children to make sure they don’t wander off too far. You should also be aware that this is a city beach, so it’s bound to be more polluted, especially as it’s close to the port.
