Where to stay in Playa Blanca: best areas
Why choose Playa Blanca to stay in Lanzarote?
We love Playa Blanca. This charming seaside resort has a long promenade and is not too big, so it’s easy to get around. It offers beautiful beaches right in the center and wild beaches nearby (Papagayo).
On the other hand, it is completely to the south, which means more driving to visit the north.
Here’s a map with the different neighborhoods to stay in, which we present to you next.
This is one of the best places to stay in Lanzarote!
And then you can plan your stay with our guide to What to do in Playa Blanca and the most beautiful beaches around Playa Blanca.
Sleeping in the center
The central section stretches from Playa Flamingo to just beyond Playa Dorada.
Benefits:
- access to the center’s best beaches
- access to all restaurants
- living
Disadvantages:
- noisy
- difficult to park, if the hotel doesn’t have a parking lot
Sleeping in the West, around Montana Roja
To the west of the town are the Montana Roja volcano and Montana Roja beach.
Benefits:
- quiet
- more space
- beautiful views of the volcano
- easy to park
Disadvantages:
- a short walk into town
- fewer restaurants
Sleeping around Marina Rubicon
To the east of the center is the Marina Rubicon with its shopping mall.

- shopping center and restaurants
- beautiful atmosphere
Disadvantages:
- a short walk to Playa Dorada
- slightly fewer restaurants than in the center
Sleeping in the East at the gateway to Papagayo
Benefits:
- direct hiking access to the Papagayo beaches, so it’s easier to go and enjoy these wild beaches
- quiet
Disadvantages:
- much more walking to restaurants and beaches in the center
Other tips to keep in mind
Playa Blanca is a popular tourist destination. We therefore advise you to book as early as possible to have a choice of hotels and better prices.
If you’re staying in the center of town and renting a car, be sure to check parking conditions. It can be difficult to find space around the old town and Playa Dorada.
OUR ADVICE FOR RENTING A CAR IN Lanzarote
- Compare prices on our preferred platform: DiscoverCars – one of the best rated sites.
- A small car is all you need.
- But you can also choose a larger one if you wish, as the parking spaces are rather large.
- Demand is high, so book early.
