1. Climate in Fuerteventura in July – weather forecast
In the Canary Islands, the climate varies little between seasons. However, it varies from island to island.
Fuerteventura is one of the islands closest to Africa. It’s also one of the least rainy. The climate is relatively warm and dry all year round.
July temperatures are around 22°C (72°F) and it doesn’t rain. The Canary Current, which runs between Morocco and Fuerteventura, keeps the sea cool in all seasons. In Fuerteventura, July is the windiest month of the year, especially by the sea: we love to try our hand at surfing and other board sports. Note that Fuerteventura is sometimes hit by the calima, a wind laden with sand from the Sahara that can raise temperatures and sometimes cause a yellow haze to appear.
In the mountains, the weather lends itself to hiking, but crowds clog up the paths. Take extra care in dry weather.

6. Wind in Fuerteventura in July
The wind blows all year round on the Canary Islands. That’s because they’re located in the Atlantic Ocean, with no surrounding obstacles to stop it. Fuerteventura is the windiest. It’s nicknamed “the island of the winds”. July is the windiest month of the year. Don’t worry: it won’t interfere with tourist activities.
The wind blows the most on the open spaces and seashores, but the wind you feel also depends on your position on the island and the direction in which it blows.
The “trade winds” cool the air in summer. They also guarantee constant waves along the coast. We also enjoy water sports such as surfing and windsurfing. Also blows the chergui, a warm wind from Africa.
Several times a year, the latter transforms into a calima, a wind laden with dust and sand from the Sahara. It raises temperatures and affects visibility, but generally doesn’t prevent you from enjoying the island. Above all, it is less frequent in summer.
